PS5 emulator compatibility log: what the sources actually show

Most "PS5 emulator compatibility lists" online are invented. This log only records entries we can trace to a primary source — a release note, a merged pull request or a developer report — and marks every gap explicitly.

Checked October 15, 2026 (UTC). All dates UTC.

How we classify compatibility stages

  1. Crashes / does not boot — the executable fails before a meaningful state.
  2. Boots — reaches an in-game process, even with defects.
  3. Renders — draws the game world; input or progression may be broken.
  4. Playable — a complete playthrough is credible; needs FPS + hardware data to claim.

No PS5 title has a verified "Playable" entry yet as of this check.

Evidence log

Direct release-note evidence only. "Not reported" means the source gave no value; it is not zero.
GameProject / buildStage (sourced)Verified statementFPS / hardwareSource
Dreaming Sarah AnyPS5 v0.1.2 Boots Fixed startup blocking (unwind / debug-raise) so the flow can continue. Gameplay is not established by that entry. Not reported v0.1.2 release notes

Developer-reported entries (context, not verified)

GameProjectStage (reported)Reported resultLimitationSources
ASTRO's PLAYROOM SharpEmu Renders (reported) Rendering changes resolved incomplete graphics and black blocks. Performance strain reported; playability and FPS unverified. Release notes + merged PR #1030
Demon Slayer 2 SharpEmu Boots (reported) Black screen persists after entering the in-game state. Rendering defects unresolved; playability and FPS unverified. Release notes + merged PR #1069

A project or game absent from this log has an evidence gap, not a proven incompatibility. KytyPS5 and the PCSX5 source project currently have no entries because their release notes contain no named, checkable game results — not because they were tested and failed.

Why the list is short

PS5 emulation is barely two years past proof-of-concept. The honest state of the field in October 2026: a handful of documented boots and renders, no verified full playthroughs, and huge variance between builds. Any site showing a long "compatibility list" with hundreds of green rows is selling you something. We update this log as new releases land — track changes via each project's page: KytyPS5, SharpEmu, PCSX5, AnyPS5.
